In 2025, the Amarna Project is launching a major fundraising campaign, in cooperation with the Amarna Research Foundation and the Amarna Trust (UK), to carry forward the research program at Amarna, and in recognition of the career of the late Professor Barry Kemp (CBE, FBA).
The Future Fund will support the Amarna Project’s two essential research stations in Egypt – their Cairo Office and the Expedition House at Amarna. Since 2007, the Cairo Office has provided a secure base for the Amarna Archive, while the Expedition House provides on-site working space and accommodation for up to 18 people. Built over 50 years ago on the footprint of an ancient Amarna house, the Expedition House requires constant upkeep and periodic modification to suit the changing needs of the project
The Future Fund will provide operational stability for the Amarna Project’s two critical research bases for 10 years, and allow it to continue its work towards the wider goals of protecting Amarna, supporting communities, and furthering knowledge of Akhenaten, his city and its people.
The Project is delighted to announce that an anonymous donor has pledged $50,000 to be used as matched funding. The Project now faces the challenge of raising an additional $50,000 to secure this pledge. The Project team asks for your support in reaching this goal. All gifts are greatly appreciated, and every bit helps.
